Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) may develop after a person is exposed to traumatic events, such as sexual assault, warfare, serious injury, or threats of imminent death. PTSD is characterized by persistently avoiding thoughts, emotions, and discussion of the stressor event. However, the event is commonly relived through intrusive, recurrent recollections, flashbacks, and nightmares.
